New simplified licensing for Wing IDE

I am happy to announce some changes to the licensing model for Wing IDE. These are designed to better address the needs of our customers:

1) The per-OS licensing constraint has been lifted. All Wing 4.x licenses, including those purchased during the beta period, can be used on any or all of the supported OSes.

2) For Wing IDE Pro, licenses are now priced according to whether they are used commercially ($245) or non-commercially ($95). Non-commercial licenses are available to students, educators, unpaid hobbyists, and publicly funded non-profits. Wing IDE Personal licenses cost $45/license.

3) For Wing IDE Professional Commercial Use licenses, we are now offering 5-pack pricing ($1150 each). We continue to offer volume discounts on 10 or more licenses.

4) We are now offering paid Support+Upgrades subscriptions as described at http://wingware.com/support/agreement. Wing IDE Pro licenses come with one year of Support+Upgrades coverage. Subscriptions can be renewed or added to Non-Commercial or Wing IDE Personal licenses at a cost of $89/year per license. Upgrades without a subscription cost 1/2 the regular license price.

Wing IDE 4.0 beta6 has been released. This focuses on bug fixes as we work towards 4.0 final. Wing IDE 4.0 beta: Adds refactoring, find uses, and Python 3.2 support

Wing IDE 4.0 beta5 is out. This beta adds a couple of major new features and many minor improvements and bug fixes.

Refactoring is now available for renaming symbols, extracting code to a new method or function, and moving the definition of a symbol, function, or method. A Uses tool is also available, for finding all the points of use of a selected symbol in Python code.

This beta also adds support for Python 3.2, auto-highlights other visible occurrences of the selected text, can run Django unit tests in the Testing tools, adds locked scrolling and improved change highlighting in the Diff/Merge tool, improves control over state saving in Perspectives, updates the French localization, and makes about 50 other improvements and bug fixes.

Wing IDE 3.2.12 released

We've just released version 3.2.12 of Wing IDE. The release was motivated primarily by adding support for Stackless Python version 2.7, but also includes some minor bug fixes such as correctly ignoring logged exceptions, fixing indent conversion of files with mixed EOL types, and correctly updating the testing tool when re-running similarly named tests.

Wingware has released version 3.2.11 of Wing IDE, an integrated development environment designed specifically for the Python programming language.

This minor release improves the Perforce integration, vi and Visual Studio modes, and keyboard navigation of the GUI. It also corrects the startup environment setup on OS X 10.6, terminates OS Command processes when the IDE exits, adds syntax highlighting for InnoSetup files, fixes debugging scripts under Plone 4, fixes Debug Attach to always work under Python 3.x, stops at exceptions when using python 2.7 unittest, correctly handles moving a file to overwrite an already-open file, and adds about 16 other bug fixes (see CHANGELOG.txt for details).

Wing IDE 4.0 beta4: Adds diff/merge tool and bug fixes

We've released a new beta for Wing IDE 4.0. This one adds a diff/merge tool. The tool is still under development but already useful. It can compare and merge between two files, two directories, buffer to disk, and working copy to revision control repository for the six supported version control systems (Subversion, Mercurial, Git, Bazaar, Perforce, and CVS).

This release also fixes bugs in the Django and matplotlib support, adds support for newer nose versions for unit testing, makes a number of other fixes, and contains significant internal changes to the source code analysis engine in preparation for features that will be in the next beta release.

Wing IDE 4.0 beta3 released: Supports interactive matplotlib

We've made a new beta release for Wing IDE 4.0. This release adds:

Support for working interactively with matplotlib in the Python Shell and Debug Probe, using the TkAgg, WXAgg (for wxPython 2.5+), Qt4Agg, and GTKAgg backends.
Reduced CPU usage at startup and when switching projects. You may see an initial reanalysis of all your files since the analysis cache system has changed. After that, startup and project switching should be faster.
Updated French localization (thanks to Jean Sanchez!)

Wing IDE 4.0 adds Django support

Wing IDE 4.0 is in beta and has added support for the Django web development framework. This includes debugging of Django templates (set breakpoints, step, view data, etc), improved Django template syntax highlighting and auto-completion, and Django-specific actions for creating projects and apps, running sync db, and so forth.
